Don't go chasing waterfalls? I disagree. I highly recommend it. Waterfalls are one of those natural structures that pictures just cant do justice. Rainbow falls is certainly in that category. Whilst travelling around Asia we were constantly promised beautiful waterfalls but upon arrival they had all dried up for the summer and the massive impressive waterfall had become a tourist climbing frame.
Rainbow falls is majestic all year round and we were not disappointed. Located just north of Keri Keri on New Zealand'
s north island. from the centre of Keri Keri it is about a 30 minute walk to the trail and then a further 30 minutes to the waterfall.
Rainbow falls is a popular tourist destination and stands at an impressive 27 meters tall. We set off just before 12 noon and were sat relaxing by the falls having lunch by 1pm. Dogs are not allowed on the trail as they can pose a danger to the local wildlife such as the kiwi bird. (even though you will be very lucky to see one.) You can also drive to the falls and park a two minute walk from the viewing platforms.( but where is the fun in that) we saw many older people walking the trail so its really not that hard.
