South bound!

So me and Jas have been travelling around for a couple of years now and one of the biggest things you have to get used to is change. Frequent change. That's in yourself and in your situation. People ask me all the time how we do it? The hardest part really is stepping outside your comfort bubble and being open to change on a daily basis. Leaving the comforts of your home town behind and discovering a whole world beyond your house and work.

The biggest difference for me between "holidaying" and travelling is comfort. When you book a weeks holiday you look for comfort and relaxation. When you travel you look for adventure and excitement. Comfort is the enemy of travel.

After 6 weeks in Kerikeri me and jas had become very comfortable. We had a car, our own room, friends and jobs. We didn't realise quite how comfortable we had become until a new opportunity came a knocking.

When Jas was in Australia she was a nanny for a lovely family and to cut a story short that family have moved to Auckland and ask Jas to Come and nanny again. They also added that the work load had increased after the arrival of their new baby Illy. It came at perfect timing as jas had just finished her contract with the chocolate factory.

The first issue we face anytime we move is where to live, The family were working to a tight schedule due to the dads job and said they would be arriving in New Zealand in 2 weeks. There was no way we could find somewhere close to them in this time. But as the magic of travelling strikes again, the family rented a massive 5/6 bed house in a really nice area of south Auckland and asked us to come and live with them.

We packed up, and left our comfort zone once again and headed down south. When we arrived at the house we quickly discovered that it was unfurnished and as the family had moved in such short notice they had nothing to fill it. Me and Jas are used to living minimally. For the first few nights we stayed on air mattresses and ate takeaways. We now have a bed and a few pots, pans, and cutlery. The fridge is due to arrive in a week or so.

But the beauty of being free from work and responsibilities means me and Jas can spend more time together and go where we like when we like! We are really enjoying life.
